Good to know
Welcome to Bay Hollow – Your Peaceful Escape on the Chesapeake Bay Nestled along a quiet ridge above protected wetlands and the gentle waves of the Chesapeake Bay, Bay Hollow offers a serene getaway immersed in nature. Step out back and follow a cleared path to discover our favorite hidden gem—what we lovingly call the “secret beach.” Grab a sifter and keep your eyes peeled for ancient fossils hiding in the sand. Back at the house, the spacious wraparound deck invites you to unwind in Adirondack-style chairs or gather around the new propane firepit. A large outdoor sectional creates the perfect space for family conversations, s’mores, or stargazing. From here, you’re eye-level with a canopy of trees where bald eagles, osprey, and countless other birds glide peacefully overhead. From November through April, enjoy wide, uninterrupted views of the Bay. In warmer months, you’ll be surrounded by vibrant greenery with shimmering glimpses of the water beyond the trees. No matter the time of year, don’t forget your binoculars—over 140 bird species have been spotted in the area! The Space Inside, Bay Hollow features 3 cozy bedrooms: • 1 KING • 1 QUEEN • 2 FULL (BUNKS) • 1 FUTON You’ll also find 3 smart TVs, high-speed Xfinity Wi-Fi, and plenty of room for both relaxation and fun. The main living room upstairs showcases beautiful vaulted ceilings with exposed beams and a cast iron wood stove perfect for cozy evenings during the cooler months. Downstairs, the walk-out basement is set up for family fun, with two full-sized couches (one a futon), a smart TV, and a game area featuring an air hockey table. It’s the perfect hangout spot for kids while the adults relax upstairs. The fully equipped kitchen includes everything you need to cook at home: a dutch oven, Nutribullet, Keurig, coffee grinder/maker, toaster, cocktail set, wine glasses, and more. Both full bathrooms have been recently updated with Carrara marble vanities and brass fixtures. • Upstairs bath serves the KING and QUEEN rooms • Downstairs bath serves the FULL BUNK bedroom and basement den. The Neighborhood Bay Hollow is situated within Chesapeake Ranch Estates (also known as the “Ranch Club”), which is an HOA-run neighborhood. As a guest of Bay Hollow, you’ll have access to two private beaches, Seahorse Beach and Driftwood Beach, as well as beach and picnic access at Lake Lariat. Note: You will need to use the guest pass on your car to access these amenities and must return the pass before you depart or you’ll incur a sizable fee. Groceries and Amenities: Bay Hollow is a 10-minute drive to two grocery stores, Dunkin’ Donuts, Ledo’s Pizza, and basically every convenience you’ll need. You can even have your groceries delivered through Instacart and other delivery services! What to do in the area? Bay Hollow is a quick 12-minute drive to Calvert Cliff’s State Park, the famous spot where people love to hunt for fossilized shark teeth. Cove Point Park (less than 10 minutes away) offers an excellent swimming pool complete with curvy slides and water features (non-residents can gain pool entry for a small fee). Down the road (18 minutes) is Solomon’s Island, MD where you can charter a deep sea fishing tour, take a sailing class, rent a boat, visit the Calvert Marine Museum, or eat at one of the many restaurants along the water. One of my personal favorite hobbies is antique shopping in St. Leonard (15 minutes away) at the Chesapeake MarketPlace or visiting Perigeaux Vineyards & Winery.
Other Details to Note
BUGS: This is a house surrounded by the woods--that means there can be bugs, especially in the summertime, and, at times, bugs find their way into the house. The best way to minimize the number of bugs inside is to keep doors and windows closed at all times. Please also carefully clean up the kitchen every night and securely package up all food. Note: a professional pest control company regularly treats the house. NO SMOKING: Smoking is never allowed inside the house. You may smoke outside as long as you clean up after yourself. You may not throw cigarette butts on the deck, in the yard, or anywhere else--butts must go in the trash after they have cooled off. If there is evidence of smoking inside a $500 fee will be assessed.
